WESLEY KO Obituary

KO, Wesley 93, of E. Falmouth, MA, formerly of New York and Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Neff), with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Wesley served in World War II. He was a Captain in the 325th Glider Infantry 82nd Airborne Division in the European Theater. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, earning the Silver Service Star for his service in the six major campaigns of the ETO. He received numerous other medals including the Purple Heart. Wesley's greatest passion was the 325th Glider Infantry and he worked hard to keep the memories and contributions of the glider men alive. He shared his personal stories in interviews, articles and books including "The Greatest Generation" and his own biography "On Silent Wings of Courage." His proudest achievement to this effort was serving as editor of "The Glider Tow Line", a quarterly newsletter where stories of these men were broadly distributed. He co-owned and operated, Komak, Inc., an electronics company for 45 years, with his brother, David. In addition to his career he had many interests including computers, boating, fishing, family, poetry, and furniture re-finishing and building. Wes was a loving father to Deborah Grimes and Pamela Ko of Boston, MA and Robert Ko of Stow, MA. He is also survived by his aforementioned brother, David of North Carolina. He was pre-deceased by his sister Ruth Ko. He also leaves six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a niece, nephew, two great nephews, a great niece and many dear friends. A graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Monday, January 7, at 11:00am under the direction of Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Falmouth. My name is Nancy Trinkle and I believe that the Wilmer Trinkle family knew Mr. Ko in Philadelphia back in the 20's. My father-in-law, Wilmer Trinkle, and his sister, Bessie Glenn, talked about their friend, Wesley Ko. My e-mail is [email protected].
