How fortunate I was to be hired by Bill Brewer as a lawyer for NOAA upon my graduation from law school in 1976. I was even more fortunate to have been assigned a high priority case that gave me the opportunity to work closely with Bill. He was a very fine lawyer but much more importantly a true gentleman.

We met Bill--regrettably--only a few times and only briefly. But it was immediately evident in conversation that he was a giant of heart, mind and soul. An exemplary model of kindness and robust spirit. Fair winds and following seas, Bill.
Bill enjoying his boat Periwinkle, with us aboard. Bill's amazingly appropriate limericks kept us entertained - and astonished - during this outing.

We lived in Galesville for almost 20 years, and were lucky enough to have had Bill's friendship. He greatly enriched our lives. Our world is emptier without him.
