Mr. Dunnell was my crew coach and English teacher and made a BIG impact on my life then, and now. Absolutely the best teacher in my lifetime and remains my role model as I teach doctoral studies now. He was a rare individual one rarely meets who always cared for his students and offered great wisdom while instilling a work hard ethic, in not only academics, but sports as well. Having joined the military years after graduation I returned to Brooks and was fortunate enough for Mr. Dunnell to bring me along on his chase boat to coach a crew team. While talking to the team somewhere on the lake, he honored me by recognizing me as a military service member and one of his "finest coxswains" he had ever coached. He was being kind, but it was very humbling. He had that way with people, always making them feel accomplished while motivating them to do better. WWD was quite a character. I miss him and will pray for him and his family as I know he is truly missed by so many people. God bless you Mr. Dunnell and thank you for all that you did to impact my life.

One of my greatest teachers. He pushed our class a lot and introduced us to extraordinary literature. When (at long last) he praised my writing, I felt very proud.
