WILLIAM KIRCHNER Obituary

KIRCHNER, William P. "Bill" Jr. Of Arlington, MA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 16th, two days after his 90th birthday. Bill was born in Brighton on April 14, 1932, son of the late William P. and Alice M. (McLaughlin) Kirchner. Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years Rita (Sullivan) Kirchner. Bill was the beloved father of Theresa (Terry) Miller and her husband Phil of Sudbury, John Kirchner and his wife Linda of Arlington, James Kirchner and his wife Lisa of Middleton, and Steven Kirchner and his fiancée Joni Mullen of Arlington. Bill was predeceased by his beloved son William, III "Billy" of South Boston. He was the world's best "Papa" to Joseph, Julie and Justin Miller, Jessica, Erin, Laura, Danny, James, Kate, Ryan, and Liam Kirchner. Bill is also survived by his sister Alice Kirchner of Arlington; and predeceased by his sister Agnes Kasabian Stahl (Vaughn/Paul) of Arlington; and his brother Robert Kirchner (Patricia) of Burlington. Bill was a loving uncle, treasured cousin, and dear friend to many. Bill grew up in Arlington and attended Saint Agnes School. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1949 and Boston College in 1954. After college, Bill served two years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Bill taught for many years in South Boston, Brighton and Charlestown, and worked for many years as a school psychologist for the Boston Public Schools. Bill always had a smile on his face and everyone enjoyed his quick wit and great sense of humor. Bill was a devoted parishioner at St. Agnes Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Singing Grandpops and the Retired Men's Club of Arlington. Our family would like to thank all those who helped support Bill, especially Dr. Berarducci and staff at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Beth Israel/Lahey Hospice and the caring home health aides who helped us be able to care for Bill at home.
