WILLIAM RILEY Obituary

RILEY, William Joseph "Bill" Age 69, born January 5, 1952, in Brockton, MA, passed away on November 19, 2021, after a long illness. Bill was the son of the late Joseph Benedict and Catherine Ann (Lyons) Riley and lived in Sandwich and North Easton, MA, during the last thirty years. He and his former wife, Christine Santoro, have one dear son, Daniel J. Riley, the brightest star in Bill's universe. Bill graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 1970. He earned degrees from the University of Wisconsin (go badgers!) and Boston College Law School (go, eagles!). He practiced law for 19 years before being appointed a judge to the Massachusetts District Court, serving on the bench in Chelsea, Dedham, Hingham, Stoughton, and Barnstable Courts for many years until his retirement. Bill had a passion for justice, politics, classic & antique cars, running, and fast motorcycles. He took many adventurous trips on his bikes and ran several marathons. Bill had a terrific sense of humor and an infectious laugh that made people smile. Bill touched the lives and hearts of many people, and they will remember him for his wit, kindness, fairness, and radiant smile. His family members will miss him, Mary Riley Itri of Los Angeles, CA, John F. Riley and Flavia Riley of Breman, ME, Robert Riley and Janet McGovern of Lakeville and West Yarmouth, MA, Kevin Riley of Walpole, nieces, and nephews, Austin and Ali Itri, of Los Angeles, Joe Riley of Boston, MA, and Johnathan and Katie Riley of Bremen, ME. His brother Joseph Riley and sister, Cathy Riley predeceased Bill. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held in the spring of 2022. If you can make a Memorial donation in Bill's memory, please do so to a place Bill enjoyed with his son when Dan was a child, Children's Museum Easton (www.cmeaston.org) P.O. Box 417, North Easton, MA 02356.

We are so saddened by the passing of our dear friend Bill. We just found out this news today. We three met at Marquette U. in Sept. 1970 (freshman year). Quickly becoming close friends. We cherished our friendship during this tumultuous, Extraordinary, Learning , Fun, Music, politics, Life .... Questions, Experiences. We knew that Redheaded kind, funny, serious, friend was slated for a significant successful career. We went in different directions in two years, but we can still remember so, so many experiences by all of us, concerts, cross country trips.
Rest In Peace Bill.
Sympathies to Daniel, Bill´s siblings, and all immediate family
