SMITH, Winona H. (Behr) Of Billerica, formerly of Lexington and South Yarmouth, February 10, 2011. Wife of the late Douglas W. Smith. Mother of Susan Harris and her husband McClaren of Chelmsford, and Douglas Smith and his wife Marcia of Hamilton. Sister of Ava Benson of New Ipswich, NH, and the late Harry Behr, Roger Behr, and Donald Behr. Grandmother of Wendy Jonson, Laurel Sanroma, Rebecca Hay, Erik Smith, Rebecca Smith, Tristan Smith, and Hunter Smith. Winona is also survived by 8 greatgrandchildren, Alex and Amanda Jonson, Katherine, Sophie, and Andrew Sanroma, Nathan and Preston Hay, and Amelia Lee. Graduate of Mass. General Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. Worked and taught at Mass. General Hospital. Was the Night Supervisor of Nursing at Symnes Hospital in Arlington. Worked as an Occupational Health Nurse at RCA/GE in Burlington until she retired. Active in Saint Brigid Sodality, and active in FISH and MGH Reunion Committee. Known as Smitty to her co-workers, Nonie to her friends, and Nan to her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Tuesday February 15 at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Saint Brigid Church, 2001 Mass. Ave. Lexington at 10am. Relatives & friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 2pm to 4pm & from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Donations in her memory may be made to Rosie's Place, 889 Harrison Ave. Roxbury, MA 02118. Interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. "Smitty" was a wonderful person and a beloved co-worker. Rob Shuman and Blanche Shuman (Blanche's husband Bud was the HR Manager at RCA in Burlington and Rob worked there also). Dad thought very highly of Smitty.
