YVONNE MARIE GALLANT

1935 - 2021

GALLANT, Yvonne Marie (Mailhiot) Age 85 of North Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away on 12 January 2021 after a brave fight against lung disease. She was born on September 8th, 1935 to Albert D. Mailhiot and Louisette Mailhiot (Schmidt), in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1954, Yvonne married Alfred E. Gallant, also of the same French parish, Our Lady of Pity in North Cambridge. Together they raised two sons, Steven and David, with their lives revolving around family, friends and the Church. Yvonne worked as an Administrative Assistant at Notre Dame H.S. in the 60's, and later brought those skills to Harvard Business School in the 80's, but her life was truly dedicated to her family and friends. She adored and was devoted to Al, her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and loved her trips to the ocean. Yvonne was a devout Catholic and a true woman of faith. She prayed every morning for her family, friends and those in need. She was a social person that always had a kind word for others. Yvonne would be the first to support you in your time of need with a call, a meal or a Mass Card or card for every occasion. She was a generous, giving person that set a wonderful example for us all. Yvonne was predeceased by her parents and her sister and best friend, Jackie. She is survived by Alfred, her husband of 66 years, her sons Steven (Mary Jane) of Andover and David (Susan) of Watertown and her six grandchildren; Jaclyn M. Gagnon and her spouse Seth, Amanda J. Gallant, Trent S. Gallant, Marielle V. Gallant, Grace P. Gallant, Sarah A. Gallant, and two great-grandchildren; Jane A. Gagnon and Liam D. Gagnon; sisters-in-law Lillian Gallant and Elaine Dwyer, Phyllis Bagdasarian and Laura Gallant. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to her many caretakers, including Dr. Ricardo Wellisch, Erin Hougasian and the Care Dimensions Team and Home aides Christina Thelusma and Matilda Mutty-Lator. A Private Funeral Mass will be held at Saint John's Church in North Cambridge. A Private Burial will follow. A celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at a later date when it is safe for relatives and friends to gather.
