My dad
He taught me how to walk and talk
He taught me how to smile
He taught me how to read and write
He taught me how to laugh
He taught me how to fish and camp
He taught me how to love
He taught me the beauty of nature
He taught me to care
I will miss him greatly and I will miss
the many things that he had yet to teach me

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my Uncle Jim. I always looked forward to my visits with him on my trips to Massachusetts. I shall remember him fondly everytime I look at his carvings and re-read all the saved articles that have appeared in the newspapers. My sincere sympathy.

My carvings have taken on more meaning now that my mentor has passed. I will miss his humor, great desserts, and skill.

Jim Woodworth was the only one of his breed ever created. There are no others like him.

You will not find a man of more gentle grace and quiet wisdom. He was a true teacher. He brought new direction to my adult life. I believe each of us who carved birds with him felt he was a hero.
He certainly gave each of us us the feeling that we were the most prized pupil. "You're more than just a pretty face" he would say... as his way of complimenting our carving attempts. I don't know what I will do without his weekly sessions of artistry, humor, friendship and attention. He paid such close attention to each of us-- with a cartoon cut out, a special picture, an article or a comment: "I was thinking about you this week..."

There is no replacement for Jim. All of the Woodworth clan must feel a great loss; but also, a welling up of pride
that comes from being associated with this fine man.
I will miss you, brother.

I look up on my mantle and see 12 of the most beautifully carved birds which now have more meaning than ever. Jim was a wonderful friend and a great guy to sit and talk with. Tammy and I are saddened at the news of his death. His family, and Jane, are in our thoughts and prayers.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
