Mrs. Hailey was a good woman and a formidable force in turning Bromley Heath around.
I grew up with her children and at one time she was my boss.
Tough, but fair.
She wanted all of us to do our best.
I am proud to say I was a resident of Bromley Heath.

To the Hailey Family, I am so sorry to hear of Mildred's passing. She was a great woman, leader and role model for so many. I had the privilege of knowing her and working with her as a Boston City Councillor and Clerk Magistrate. She made life better for so many. Public housing residents at Bromley Heath and around the country benefited by her good works. Please take comfort that her legacy will on in all our hearts.

Mrs. Hailey. That's what I always called her. Even after I became an adult and had business meetings with her, I couldn't bring myself to call her Mildred. That was my little sign of respect. I will always miss that bright smile she had for me every time she saw me. May her family find peace in knowing that she was also well loved and respected by those not of her family. May you all find peace.
