Ronald Taylor Obituary

TAYLOR Ronald Glenroy "Ron", a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at York Hospital in York, Maine. He was 80 years old. Ron was born in Cambridge on August 26, 1934, a son of the late Bradlee M. Taylor and Olive M. (Parsons) Taylor. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at B.F. Tweed Elementary School, Clarence R. Edwards Middle School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1953. Ron enlisted into the United States Navy on October 2, 1953 and served his country with pride and courage during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on September 17, 1957 with the rank of AC2. Ron began working for the Federal Government in the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller at Logan International Airport in Boston and the Boston ARTCC in Nashua, New Hampshire. He retired in 1993 after 35 years of dedicated service to his country. Ron was a member of Bunker Hill American Legion Post # 26 where he was past Commander in 2001 and was also Chief Marshall of the Bunker Hill Day Parade in 2001. He was a member of the Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association and the Bunker Hill Monument Association. Ron is the beloved husband of 56 years to Margaret A. "Peggy Ann" (Connors) Taylor. He is the devoted father of Kim Marie Taylor and her late husband Paul Richard Maher of Charlestown, Sandra Ann Taylor and her husband John "Jacko" Greatorex of Charlestown and Douglas Ronald Taylor of Charlestown. He is the loving Pappy to Casey Ann Dolaher and Stephen Libby of Stoneham and his great-granddaughter Avery "Ree" Catherine Libby. He is the beloved brother of Bradlee Alan Taylor and his wife Arlene of Florida and Wesley Earl Taylor and his wife Frances of Charlestown. Beloved brother-in-law of Jack Connors and his wife Diane of Medford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ron's Funeral on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, CHARLESTOWN followed by his Funeral Service in St. John's Episcopal Church, 27 Devens Street, Charlestown at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Ron's name to The New England Shelter For Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St. Boston, Mass. 02108. Dearest Peggy Ann & family, Very shocked to read of Ron's death. Please know The Taylor Family will be in my prayers. There will be from here forward a new world to adjust too and that seat at the dinner table will be vacant, but filled with a lifetime of memories. I am so very sorry for this painful loss. I am so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I always enjoyed talking to him on Baldwin Street and at Dunkin Donuts. He always had a good story or joke to tell. He will be missed by many.
