I stumbled on your Dad's obituary by accident while looking for someone else. You don't know me but I met your Dad once in Doolin at O'Connor's Pub. I believe he was there for his nephew's funeral. We were vistiting from Mass. and happened to sit next to him. He delighted us with stories of his early years in Ireland and being born just above where we sat. He made us all laugh with his stories(one was that his young, adorable granddaughter was his girlfriend). He made such an impression us and after he left the waitress sent over a couple of pints courtesy of Mr. O'Connor. He reminded me so much of my own beloved dad. I'm very sorry for your loss-but you must have the most wonderful memories. God Bless you all.

Dear Noreen and the entire O'Connor Family,

It has been a long time since I last saw your Dad, but I have such fond memories of the times when my in-laws were alive and playing their music at Canty's. Tom would come in every Saturday evening and sing along to all the old Irish songs of home. My Mom and I were the waitresses back then and he always had a kind word and a huge smile whenever he came in. He loved his family, always talked about them and Noreen that is how we met! I will always think of Tom with a smile, he will be sorely missed by all that had the chance to meet and know him. Rest in Peace Tom.

I was very sad to hear of Mr. O'Connor's passing and send my heartfelt condolences to all of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.

Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer, to bring back a smile, to banish a tear?

Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, but how many were sorry when he passed away.

Go on, pass through as your life is emptied.
Forget me not, to a glance of everlasting joy and hope.
Close the book, ring the bell, and quench all the candles.
For you must journey on for your caring.
A lone tear, we all must cry.
A lone laugh, we all must smile.
I gave your heart, I gave your soul,
Will it be a life of roses,
Or simply thorns?

For everlasting peace and joy,
Go on, pass through as your life is emptied.
And we will never live another memory of you and me.

The emptiness has filled a room,
Where no one was,
Except in the beginning.

As our lives are, we are never more.
Go, on, pass through, as your life is empty,
But I am blessed because I knew you in my heart.
- My sincerest condolences.

The love we have for Granddad
Will never fade away.
We"ll think of him, our special friend
Throughout each passing day.
We"ll walk into the room
And see his empty chair;
Although we know he's resting,
We"ll feel his presence there.
The memories of his laughter,
His warm and loving smile,
His eyes so full of happiness,
His heart that of a child.
Memories are forever
Be they laughter or of tears,
Memories we will treasure
Through all the forthcoming years.

and one more toast...

God made the Italians for their beauty. The French for fine food. The Swedes for intelligence. The Jews for religion. And on and on until he looked at what he had created and said, "This is all very fine but no one is having fun. I guess I'll have to make me an Irishman."
Irish toast
Thank you Dad, for the memories and the Fun!! If you're lucky enough to be Irish...well you're lucky enough!!

To Terri, Joe, Katrina and Timothy and all of Tom O'Connor's family and friends,

The miles between us make it hard, as we cannot be with you in person to express our deep sorrow and to share our love and support with you during this difficult time. Tom was a hard worker and loved life to the fullest...he loved all of you to the fullest too, and his family was so important to him. As the stories go, he loved to be around the kids, grandkids and great grandkids. His Irish heritage and his love of Boston were evident throughout his life. He especially loved his time visiting family and friends in Ireland and going up to the cabin and being with all of you. You have so many memories to savor. He will always be a part of you. May the great memories of his life and your times together help to carry you through the loss of Tom (your father, grandfather and great-grandfather). We ask for God's blessings on all of you and that his gentle hand will be laid upon your shoulders to comfort you now and always. Love from our family in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa...Pam, Dan, Tamie, Mike, Thomas, Joseph, Mike, Katie, Oliver & Adeline.

I was honored to have known Tom and his childen, as my dear daughter-in-law, Terri is married to my son Joseph. On the occasions I have had to come to the Boston area, Tom and his family were always so gracious and welcoming. I know how strong your love was for Tom and that love will live on through each of you forever. He always talked about the green green homeland that he loved so dearly that I could almost visualize how beautiful Ireland was and how much influence it had on his life. I want to send my condolences from me and all of our family here in the Dakotas. We are so sorry that the miles between us make it difficult to be there with you during this time, but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Donna Heisler, P.O.
