William Gundersen Obituary

William F. "Bill" Gundersen of Brockton, formerly of Dorchester, died April 17, 2022. Beloved husband and soulmate of Trisha "Pat" L. (Smith) Gundersen. Loving father of Amanda Workman of Florida, Jason Hurley of Rockland, and William and his wife Samantha Gundersen of Newton. Cherished "Grandpa" and "Papa" of Kelsey, Haley, Kevin, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Camryn, Ella, and Eric. Great-grandfather of Adelynn, Kylie, and Ryker. Brother of Mark and his wife Donna Gundersen of NH, Frank Gundersen of Milton, and the late Edward Gundersen and Katherine Jones. Bill is also survived and loved by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Bill's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11:30 A.M. Bill was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired custodian of the Boston Public Schools for over 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and loyal Red Sox fan. But most importantly, he loved his family, and was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Our condolences to the family. This loss is unconsolable.Bill to us was like a brother, our best friend. We are both so sad and our hearts are broken . He was an incredible human being, and so giving always ready to help everyone else. You were taken from us to soon my friend, may you rest in internal peace. We will miss you so much!

I was so sorry to read of Bill's passing. I remember how nice he and Pat were to give me a ride during a terrible snowstorm. One of the streets was not passable and a policeman directed us to a detour. The policeman did not have a hat, so Bill took his off and gave it to him to wear. Such a kind man. God rest your soul
