Anna May Marx

1953 - 2025

Anna May Marx, 72, passed away on August 6, 2025. She was born on July 11, 1953 to Don and Shirley Suhr.

Anna May was a natural leader from the very start. Her mother often said that the minute she could talk, she took charge - doing so much of her brother Tom's talking that he had to go to speech therapy. Anna May attended Central Park School until 5th grade before moving to Belgrade.

She was adventurous, spirited, and unafraid to get her hands dirty, whether it was helping with farm chores or making sure the neighborhood kids knew how to ice skate on the frozen pond in their field.

Known for her humor as much as her heart, Anna May was also a skilled prankster-famously baking chocolate chip cookies with Tabasco sauce for April Fool's Day, anxiously waiting for the moment her dad and brothers took a bite. She loved a good joke, even teaching the neighborhood kids how to raid gardens until they were caught.

Growing up her pride and joy was her horse, Cheetah, whom she brushed, cared for, and trained to barrel race in the field. Cheetah eventually had a colt named Princess, adding to the joy Anna May found living in Central Park.

Anna May became friends with husband, Jim, in 6th grade in Belgrade School. She and Jim were married at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Main Street on May 5, 1973. After graduating from Belgrade High School in 1971 she worked at J.C. Penny and later drove school bus for the Belgrade School District for 28 years.

Anna is survived by husband, Jim; sister, Mary (Dave); brothers, Tommy (Penny) and Terry (Cyndy); sons, Mat (Crystal) and Jeff (Alyson); grandsons, Sawyer, Gabe, Seamus, and Julius; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna May will be deeply missed as a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother-remembered for her mischief, kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.

Per Anna May's wishes, no public services will be held.
