Wyatt Neumann Obituary

October 8, 1972 – June 12, 2015

Wyatt Neumann, award-winning photographer and creative director, died last week after suffering a cerebral aneurysm that caused him to lose control of his motorcycle. Born into a commune tipi in northern California, raised in the mountains of Montana, embraced by the art community of New York City, Wyatt thrived on beauty and the human condition wherever he roamed. He was well known for his prolific chronicling of the American West, American subcultures, and his family. Momentslikethisneverlast.com and http://click3x.com/directors/wyatt_neumann

He was riding through the beach country of Delaware when he died.

His fondest and most passionate role was as father to Takota and Stella, his young children with wife, Jena. Wyatt was unceasingly enthusiastic about the depth of his kids' experiences. Of his thousands of Instagram posts, he wrote "this is a chronicle of my life, meant for the future eyes of my children, to relive their childhoods. So while sometimes it may seem like a bit much, for me it's never enough."

Wyatt is survived by his young family in New York; his parents, Nonnie and David Thompson, of Bozeman; his sisters, Cora (Andras, Timea, Levi) Rosner of Topanga, California, and Annie (Brandon) Heuscher of Stevensville, Montana; his grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His father, Frank Neumann, predeceased him in 1975.

We miss Wyatt, his energy, expressive art, quick wit, and fierce devotion to living fully. He challenged our status quo, opened our eyes and hearts to everyday beauty, and enveloped us in his lust for life.

A memorial was held at the Jane Hotel in Manhattan on June 16th. The family is planning a celebration of Wyatt's life in Bozeman later this summer.

I remember Wyatt every time I share my tattoo, that I received at his memorial, all who read arabic smile and wish me well. and I think if he can live on like this in my life, a neighbor who may have spent a total of a few hours of time in life exchanges, I imagine how much he lives on in the lives of his closest loved ones. Happy New Year
