Arbort Karakas Obituary

Arbort ''Art'' Karakas, 93, of Bradenton, passed away October 19, 2006 at The Inn at Freedom Village in Bradenton. Mr. Karakas was born in Dante, Va. and came to Manatee County from Royal Oak, Mich. in 1984. He was a retired owner of Dequindre Hardware, Detroit, Mich. and was a Presbyterian. The most important thing in his life was his family and he always made time for his children even after a long day at work. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Kathleen R. Karakas, Bradenton; two daughters, Kathleen Joyce Seidel, Del Mar, Calif. and Helen Patricia Pastora, Katy, Tx.; three sons, Arbort Frederick Karakas, Port Orchard, Wash., Robert Douglas Karakas, Royal Oak, Mich., and Ian Andrew Karakas, Bradenton; sister, Rose Linson, Sterling Heights, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation is Tuesday, October 24, 2006 from 6-8p.m. at Toale Brothers Bradenton Chapel. Service is Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 11a.m. at Toale Brothers Bradenton Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Manatee River Garden Club Inc., 3120 1st Ave. W., Bradenton, FL 34205.
