Carolyn Culbreth Obituary

84, passed away peacefully with dignity and grace surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, December 24, 2017. Carolyn was born November 4, 1933 in Jamestown, N.Y. Daughter of Luther and Jayne (Stearns) Rogerson. She graduated high school from Lewiston-Porter Central School in 1951, attended Bryant and Stratton Business School. Worked for Niagara Mohawk Power Company as a secretary and switchboard operator. She married Thomas A. Culbreth on September 26, 1952 in Niagara Falls, N.Y. After raising her four children she took great pride working for The Muscular Dystrophy Association. She then returned to school to become an L.P.N. Carolyn started her nursing career as a Psych Nurse at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1990 after working at Milestones Alcoholism Services where she was a Drug and Alcoholism Counselor. As a woman of deep Christian faith she was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Palmetto, FL. One of her joys was teaching Sunday school and singing. She belonged to Leader's Forum Choir, First Baptist Church Choir, Singspiration and The Islanders of Tropic Isles. She was very active in many organizations including, In-As- Much Club, PTA, Officer's Wives Club, Elks Club, and a Royal Member of Red Hatters. She was known for her master knitting abilities. Gifting family and friends with her beautiful afghans. As a seasoned traveler, she and her husband traveled the world. She especially loved her time at the beach and pool. She leaves her beloved husband, Thomas Avery Culbreth to whom she was married for over 65 years, two daughters, Carol Lee Harry and her husband Bruce of Wainfleet, Ontario, Canada, Crystal Lynn Giuliano and her husband, Ralph of Southbury, Connecticut, two sons, Thomas Avery Culbreth, Jr. and his girlfriend, Diana Bayger of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Robert Culbreth and his wife Kathleen of Niagara Falls, N.Y., ten grandchildren, Thomas F. Proctor IV, Alicia (Michael) Szilagyi, Patrick (Stacey) Proctor, Jennifer (Timothy) McMahon, Jessica (Joseph Rocco) Creaco, Jacquelyn (Joseph) Brady, Amanda (Michael) Harvey, Clayton (MaryEllen) Harry, Gabriel Harry, Moriah (Steven) Tempest, fourteen great grandchildren with another one on the way and her niece, Julie Ann Bartlett of Los Altos, California. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Phyllis Bartlett, and her brother Charles Rogerson. Carolyn will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Especially her friends from Tropic Isles, Palmetto FL, Sherkston Shores, Ontario Canada and Niagara Falls, N.Y. Special thanks to the nurses and aides of Tower 2 Cardiac Care Heart Unit at Manatee. Memorial Hospital and Tidewell Hospice. Extra thanks to Chaplin Gretchen and Dr. Werther Marciales for their compassion, kindness and care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: First Baptist Church located at 554 Main Street Niagara Falls, N.Y. 14301 or Tidewell Hospice located at 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
