Eddie Lee Rosier Sr.

Eddie Lee Rosier, Sr., was born on Aug. 29, 1920, in Tallahassee, Fla., to Eddie L. and Rosa L. Allen-Rosier. He moved to Palmetto with his parents at age five. He was educated in the Manatee County School System, and attended Lincoln Memorial High School, in Palmetto, and Florida Memorial College, in St. Augustine, Fla. He received training in the National Youth Administration Program and Civilian Conservation Corporation (CCC Camp). With this experience, he joined the United States Army and served in the Medical Unit for five years. While serving in the Army, he met and married Eura Lee Gibbs of Sebring, Fla., on Dec. 15, 1943. Eddie Lee was also a Mason, affiliated with the Palmetto Masonic Lodge 487, F & AM PHA. Eddie Lee's religious affiliation was serving as a Deacon in Greater St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church. He served as President of the Usher Board, Board of the Deacons, Trustees and Church Clerk. He chaired the committee instrumental in purchasing the first church van for the Community Outreach Ministry. Upon retiring in 1971, from the Manatee County School Board, he continued his work in the community, helping to bring improvements. Eddie Lee has always done volunteer work in his community, helping out whenever there was a need. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eura Lee Rosier; children, Minnie Rosier-Ross, Beulah Rosier-Lane, Lavonne Rosier-McSears, and Alfred C. Rosier. Visitation will be today, Jan. 19, 5-8p.m., Westside Funeral Home, 204 7th Street West, Palmetto. Funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 20, 11a.m., St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 1006 1st Street West, Bradenton.
