Edith Stright Obituary

Edith Stright, 102, of Bradenton Sarasota, and formerly of Sharon, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and joy.

Born to Ethel and Charles Williams, who preceded her in death, Edith went on to live a remarkable life filled with resilience and warmth. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John "Ghost" Stright, whom she adored; her son, Terry; and her brother, Walter Williams.

Edith lived with a deep passion for both playing and watching sports. In her younger years, she excelled as an athlete, enjoying basketball, swimming, golf, and even the occasional fishing trip with Ghost. In later years, she remained a loyal fan, cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays with unwavering enthusiasm.

Family was always at the center of Edith's life. Her son J.O. Stright was not only her advocate but the source of her greatest light and joy. Edith adored J.O. so much that she made sure to keep up her athleticism catching ball in the backyard in the prime of his athletic years proving herself to be both tough and devoted. Bonnie Stright, who remained a devoted part of Edith's life, shared a close bond with her the two especially enjoyed their shopping trips together, which brought Edith so much happiness. Her grandson Justin could always bring her to her feet, dancing along to an old tune, and together with his wife, affectionately nicknamed "Saint Natalie" by Edith, they filled her life with laughter and pride. Among her proudest moments was living long enough to watch her great-granddaughter, Kendall, graduate high school - a milestone she cherished as her greatest accomplishment.

Edith's long and happy life was enriched by the friendships she nurtured over the years. She was surrounded by a true village of people who loved her deeply and looked out for her, ensuring her days were filled with companionship and care.

Edith will be remembered for her spirited nature, her loyalty to family and friends, and the remarkable century of life she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed and forever celebrated. Most of all, Edith will be overjoyed to be reunited with her beloved Ghost, with whom she will be laid to rest.
