George Smith Obituary

was born in New York City on January 28, 1931. He passed away peacefully September 11, 2016. George spent his career as an Operating Engineer with the NYC schools. He had an easy-going way about him, a great sense of humor and a true love for life. He enjoyed numerous social activities, particularly summer boating at this home at The Harbour at Blue Point in NY and playing golf in the winter at his home at the Peridia Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, FL. He loved his family and was also very devoted to his Catholic faith. Having a childhood in Hell's Kitchen NYC, he always felt so blessed to have a loving family and successful career. George was married to the love of his life and childhood sweetheart, Pat for over 63 years. He was preceded in death by her and their son, George.George is survived by his son Tom (Alan), daughter, Pattie LeBas (Mel), grandson, Scott LeBas (Nicole), and great grandson Lane LeBas, and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass is scheduled on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church, Blue Point, NY at 11:00am, with a reception to follow at The Harbour at Blue Point Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Georges' memory as St. Jude was Georges' Patron Saint.
