James Pletscher Obituary

James C. "Jim" Pletscher
October 12, 1935 - April 7, 2022
Bradenton, Florida - James C. "Jim" Pletscher, 86, of Bradenton, FL, passed away April 7, 2022. Today we lost one of the kindest, most respected, a true gentleman the world has ever known. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Judy. Michelle Pletscher (Cole Bowers) and Kimberly Ewing (Kevin Troxell) had the great honor of having him as their Dad. He was grandfather to Zack and Brock Ewing. Everyone who knew Jim knows he was quick with a joke, a drink, a helping hand, or a burger off the grill! Dad had a lifetime of experiences most could only dream of, in the Navy he traveled to New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, Antarctica and more. He rode a dog sled team in to the science camp in Antarctica, he saw the 1st air drop of a hydrogen bomb from the deck of the ship in the Bikini Atoll islands, saw a helicopter crash into the ship he was on to name a few of his experiences. He retired after 38 years from General Motors. He lived a great life on Watkins Lake in Waterford, MI and spent his final years in Bradenton, FL.
He had many close friends and relatives to enjoy life with over the years. I think most will agree he was the finest gentleman, friend, father, grandfather and husband there could be. Jimmy P. was a true legend and will be greatly missed by all. There will be no Services at this time. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
