John Hunt was my art teacher in 1962 when I was on the yearbook staff and he was the faculty adviser. He imbued me with a love of art and graphics, and as an Army officer in later years, I couldn't draw or publish anything that I wasn't reminded of his great attention to detail and insistence on doing it right the first time and never settling on less than my best effort. I was fortunate to see him again when I was a young Army captain serving in Germany and he was teaching at Ksiserslautern American High School. At that moment, he was still my mentor and art teacher, and I was awe-struck. I still picture him in his empty classroom wearing his gray lab smock, talking to himself under his breath, fretting about some small detail that in retrospect, was important. I regarded him as an original Bohemian because of his love of art, life and European travel. I could not have guessed he was an American veteran, navigating B-29s as an Air Force bombardier/navigator during America's "Forgotten War". He never got in front of his own headlights or talked about his military exploits. Tip of the hat to you, John, for your influence on me, as your lessons helped me in various visual information activities throughout my career as an Army professional, communicator, and later, college educator. You won't be forgotten for what you meant to countless of your former students.

Ah, I remember him well from Poitiers American High School. Though I never had him in class we always spoke when we passed in the halls. What a great man who lived a wonderful life. Mary Ellen Beck Millhouse PAHS 1959-61 Charleston, SC
