Dr. Jose Felix Estigarribia, M.D.

Bradenton, Florida - Dr. Jose Felix Estigarribia, M.D., 74, known locally as "Dr. Esti," passed away peacefully and surrounded by his immediate family, on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Manatee Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1948, in Asuncion, Paraguay. He is the son of the late Rufino and Maria Estigarribia. Dr. Esti attended and graduated from medical school at the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion. It was in medical school, where he met the love of his life, Dr. Maria Eugenia Estigarribia. They were married for almost 50 years. Dr. Esti completed his surgical residency training in Michigan. In the early eighties, he and his family settled in Bradenton, Florida, where they have remained ever since. Dr. Esti served the community as a general and vascular surgeon, saving and improving the lives around him. He loved being a doctor and surgeon. He was the former chief of staff of surgery and held various other positions and titles at the local hospitals. He believed in charity and worked tirelessly to help those less fortunate. He volunteered his time and expertise to mission trips and provided his medical services to organizations such as Hearts Afire and Doctors without Borders. He provided on-site volunteer medical services to the victims of the catastrophic 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Locally, no matter who approached him for help, he would give his time, expertise, guidance and encouragement. He sponsored countless local youth soccer and softball teams as well as sponsoring local school events. Dr. Esti's works are measured in his great many acts of service for the community and now God has called him home. In addition to being a pillar in the medical community, he was a loyal, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to all who sought him out. He loved soccer (professional and watching his grandchildren play), tennis, golf, reading, cruises and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maria Eugenia Estigarribia; sons; Jose D. Estigarribia, Esq., (Paige) Palmetto, FL and Diego J. Estigarribia (Joanna) Ellenton, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Isabel Marguerite Estigarribia, Rocco Javier Estigarribia, Jose Felix Estigarribia II and Christian David Estigarribia.
Special thanks to the staff of Manatee Memorial Hospital who loved and cared for Dr. Esti in his final moments. He loved all of you and we will all miss him tremendously. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dr. Esti's name to either, Hearts Afire, St. Joseph Catholic School and/or Palmetto Charter School. I was deeply saddened and devastated to hear that Tio Jose´s passing. He was such a great inspiration to me and to many people.
He was a brilliant Surgeon and he dedicated his life to helping others. He will be forever remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, knowledge, generosity and compassion.The medical community has lost a wonderful Doctor and an amazing human being.

Dr. Esti was an amazing surgeon and equally as a person. I was lucky to have worked with him over 20 years at Manatee Surgical Center where he was one of the original and founding surgeons. He was always cheerful and not a cross word did I ever hear come from him. He did both of my children's appendectomies and my husbands hernia repair, I would joke with him that he had to take out my gallbladder prophylactically, because I did not want anyone else. I personally will miss him dearly, I had hoped he would regain his strength and do a couple more surgeries and retire on his terms and not how his career finally ended. My condolences to his family, just know that he was loved by all and will be missed terribly, it still seems so unreal. God bless you Dr. Esti, rest peacefully and suffer no more.

Dr. Estigarribia, fondly known to all as "Dr. Esti."
Where does one begin to share the awesomeness of this man, husband, father, surgeon, and friend. One of his favorite words was "Excellent" and that was how he practiced in all the roles of his life.
I too had the pleasure of working with Dr. Esti from the beginning of his start at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Working as A PACU nurse we spent many hours together, day and night! When we would get called in for a surgery in the middle of the night, it was always a comfort to know that Dr. Esti would be at the helm.
His demeanor was always gentle and kind and I never saw him without a smile, no matter the time.
He genuinely cared about his patients and was a friend to all, full of respect for others, no matter their position and we were all part of his "A" team.
You were truly a blessing to this community and its outreach. We all will love and miss you dearly and your memory will be forever imprinted on our hearts!
To the family, I want to express my heartfelt sympathy and hope you can be somewhat comforted by all the sincere words we have shared as his extended family.

I knew and worked with Jose for most of the years he lived in Bradenton. I can only echo all that is written in this obituary.
Jose worked tirelessly and freely gave his skill as a surgeon to everyone. He never complained and he was always friendly regardless of the hour or circumstance. He selflessly gave his life and skill to help others.
