Joseph Pawlush Obituary

Joseph C Pawlush
March 20, 1949 - June 8, 2023
Bradenton, Florida -
Joseph C. Pawlush passed away on June 8, 2023, at Blake Medical Hospital in Bradenton, FL. He was born on March 20th, 1949 to the late Cassimer and Stephanie Ziemba Pawlush, Wanamie, PA.
Joe attended Newport Township High School graduating with honors, in 1967. He continued his education at Columbia University graduating with a BS in Industrial Engineering and a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management. He began his career path in furniture manufacturing, in 1973. Joe's first job was at Thonet Industries, as an engineering manager, focusing on research and development. His next big step was joining The Gunlocke Company as the Director of Engineering. Joe excelled and there was no stopping his impressive career. He made an impact at Gulf and Western Industries, Lee. L Woodward, and Halcyon / Lineal Group, Inc. Joseph's brilliance and success led him to Sarasota, FL accepting a position as an Executive Vice President, at Carter Grandle. The pinnacle of his career was owning his own business, Intra-State Terrazzo & Concrete, also in Florida. He retired in 2021 after 48 years of excellence in manufacturing.
Joseph, from a young age, enjoyed polka music so much so that he became an accomplished musician playing both the clarinet and tenor saxophone. He played with a number of local groups in the Wilkes Barre, PA area.
In high school, he excelled at both basketball and baseball, and throughout his life, was an avid golfer. His interest in local sports included following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He remembered family first. A visit to Uncle Joe's home always resulted in a tour of the local area specifically Anna Maria Island. When it was time to eat, Polish kielbasa was always on the table. In recent times, he thoroughly enjoyed family Zoom/Meet conversations.
His quick wit and smile will be greatly missed by both friends and colleagues.
Joseph was preceded in death by sister, Camille Pawlush. He is survived by his brother, Paul Pawlush and wife, Anita, Leavenworth, KS; sister, Caroline Pawlush Brozena and husband, Richard, Las Vegas, NV; seven nieces; and nephews; as well as, numerous cousins from both the Pawlush and Ziemba families.
A Life Celebration will be held at Holy Spirit Parish, the Church of St. Adalberts, in Glen Lyon, PA, on September 22nd, 2023. Dates for a Celebration of Life, in Bradenton, FL will be forthcoming. Donations may be made in Joe's name to the American Cancer Society, 600 301 Blvd W., Bradenton, FL 34205. Condolences may be made to www.brownandsonsfuneral.com

We are saddened to learn about Joe’s passing. Paul and I were just talking about him the other day, we were going to send him an invitation to the All-Newport Reunion. I remember meeting him in sixth grade at K.M. Smith School after the other three elementary schools were closed. He had red hair! The only other kids in our class with red hair were Bob Caley and Jim Fenstermacher. Joe was smart and we knew he would go far, as indeed he did. He never forgot his roots, he came to some of our class reunions. And of course he played basketball. May you fly with the angels, Joe! We will always remember you! Heidi (Selecky) and Paul Jarecki
