Kathleen Thoreson Obituary

Kathleen Thoreson

December 12, 1942 - January 21, 2024

Bradenton, Florida - Kathy was born at Queen Victoria Hospital in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and was 81 years old. She graduated from St. Boniface School of Nursing, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and received her RN degree in Nursing. She had a lifelong career in nursing at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.

Kathy's greatest thrill was traveling the world, she encouraged many friends and family to join her on adventures around the globe to ride camels in the Moroccan desert, see the Egyptian pyramids, boat on the Yangtze River, trek in Manchu Pichu, and learn about the Galapagos ecosystems just to name a few.

She lived a life of service and care to others that continued after retirement volunteering in many capacities from Bradenton Players to Meowtown cat sanctuary. We are forever grateful to the medical and nursing community who rallied behind her in her final days to care for her as she had done for countless others as she battled the extreme difficulties of ALS.

She is survived by her children, Andrew Thoreson of Gulfport, FL and Holly Thoreson McManus and her husband, Tim McManus of Nashville, TN. As well as her grandchildren, Max McManus, Georgia McManus and Ava McManus. Her family and devoted friends will forever remember her sense of adventure and the beautiful, loving, caring spirit she had for others.
