Keith Torkelson Obituary

Keith Carl Torkelson, 88, died November 27, 2010, in Bradenton, Florida. Mr. Torkelson was born Jan. 11, 1922, in Horton, Kansas, to Carl Torkelson and Pearl (Chase) Torkelson. He graduated from Horton High School in 1940. He served during WWII in the Pacific theater with the U.S. Marine Corps. He served during several invasions and was ultimately present during the surrender of the Japanese in 1945. After his discharge, he married Juanita Hogard on January 23, 1946. Mr. Torkelson was employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He lived in Kansas City, Missouri for 34 years before moving with his wife, Juanita, to Bradenton, Florida in 1990. He is survived by son, Ronnie Keith Torkelson and daughter in-law Meredith of Bradenton, FL; his granddaughter, Andrea Renee Torkelson, of Palmetto, FL; and his brother, Loyal G.T.orkelson, of Leavenworth, Kansas. Mr. Torkelson was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; and his brother, Giles. Mr. Torkelson will be laid to rest beside his wife, Juanita, at Mount Moriah Terrace Park, Kansas City, Missouri.
