Marlys Richards Obituary

In remembrance of our loving mother Marlys Adelle (Erickson) Richards.

Mom was born and raised in Minot, North Dakota, to Earl J Erickson and Florence A (Thompson). She was the eldest of five children.

She met Henry Leroy Richards, who was in the Air Force and stationed in Minot, ND. Henry was from Ellenton, FL., which is where they moved and raised their family.

She is survived by her children: Brenda (Gregory – deceased) Symons, Carla (David) Baumgartner, Julie (Ryan) Kane.

And her siblings:

Sisters Janice (Surgay – deceased) Kalmaha, Max, ND.

Patricia (Roger) Ballew, Highmore, SD.

Linda (Roger) Beyer, Bismark, ND.

And brother Roger (Donna) Erickson, MN.

Also, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mom was a very loving, hard-working, and creative woman.

She enjoyed sewing, painting china, stained glass art, antiquing, and traveling home to visit her family. For over 40 years, Mom worked as a Legal Assistant in Bradenton, FL. She enjoyed helping others with their real estate transactions as well as their estate planning.

Per Mom's wishes, we will accompany her on her final trip to North Dakota.

To honor her memory, we suggest that remembrances may be made in the form of a donation to Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota County, whose care and compassion meant so much.

Earlier today

I was sad to hear of your mother's passing. I remember her as a lovely and kind lady. She raised three beautiful daughters.

Earlier today

I always thought Marlys was a beautiful and talented lady. She always made Doreen, myself, and any other of Brenda's friends feel welcome. She was soft spoken and friendly. She raised three daughters just like her.

Look-up the definition of "lady" in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Marlys. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend who indeed loved her girls and grandchildren more than anything. She impacted more lives than she ever knew with her kind and quiet ways. She was beautiful, but I don't think she ever realized just how beautiful she really was. My deepest sympathy to her loving family, she was one in a million...
