Michael Riordan Obituary

Michael D. Riordan, Jr., born October 21, 1921 in Willimantic, Connecticut, passed away at Blake Medical Center on June 15, 2007, at the age of 85. He is the son of Dr. Michael D. Riordan, Sr. and Mrs. Margaret Tobin Riordan. He graduated from Holy Cross College in Worchester, Mass. with a Master's Degree in Chemistry in 1944. He retired from Texaco Inc. in 1981 as Director of Worldwide Petrochemical Research. He resided in Anna Maria Island, Fla. for the past 25 years where he was a member of Key Royale Country Club, St. Bernard Catholic Church, and the Anna Maria Island Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, Bette of 62 years; daughter, Davitt (Robert)McDermott of Maidens, Va., a grandson Peter McDermott of Tampa, Fla.; a grandson and a great granddaughter Kevin and Kaitlyn McDermott of Maidens, Va. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Anna Maria Island at a future date in September. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Anna Maria Historical Society.,

Mr. Riordan was a favorite of mine at St. Bernard's Church. He was always happy, polite and always had a good word for everyone. He will be missed. Paulette - Office Manager at St. Bernard's
