Nicholas Blitvich Obituary

Nicholas J. Blitvich Nicholas J. Blitvich, 89, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2018, after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia (Higgins) who died in 1996. Nick was born on May 1, 1929 in New York City and grew up in New York and New Jersey. He was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Sekeley) Blitvich. After high school graduation, Nick served in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He was a police officer with the NYPD and retired after 20 years of service. Nick and Pat moved to Bradenton to enjoy their retirement years in a warmer climate. They had an active social life and loved tennis and travel. In addition to his wife, Pat, he was predeceased by his sister, Helen Tomich. He is survived by his sister, Catherine Wubbenhorst of Miami; his brother-in-law, Michael Tomich of Lynnfield, MA; his nephews, Dr. John Tomich and his wife, Susan; Paul Tomich and his wife, Lisa Stevenson; his niece, Carol-Ann Sullivan and her husband, Joseph; two great-nephews and three great-nieces. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209 followed by a Mass at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3100 26th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205. Nick will be buried with Pat in Fogartyville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Nick's name to any charity supporting Alzheimer's research.
