Pieter Hahn Obituary

60, of Bradenton, Fla. passed away on August 25, 2014 after a long illness. The world has lost a wonderful loved one treasured by family and friends and a fantastic travel agent with a pouch of "pixie dust" to help fix emergencies and find impossible reservations. Born on July 5th, 1954 in Wareham, MA and raised on Cape Cod in Woods Hole, MA Pieter also resided in Hatchville, Sandwich and Hyannis, NIA, Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Barbados. He is a graduate of Falmouth (MA) High School, Class of 1973 and attended The Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, MA. He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Alton, his father Jan Hahn, an older brother Henry Fay Mixter, Jr., his maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Harrison Alton and his paternal grandparents, Pieter Hahn and Lijntje Piet in The Netherlands. He is survived by his brother Benjamin Alton Mixter and his wife Terri of Big Pine Key, FL, three sisters: Tineke Hahn of Stu-art, FL, Erika Hahn of Falmouth, MA and Heidi Parshley Hahn Lepage of Uxbridge, MA, an Aunt Alison Alton Robb of North Falmouth, MA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his honorary adopted big sister, Dee Ferreira, his honorary adopted brothers Ron Jarvis and Phillip Thrapp, and his wonderful colleagues at Fantasy Travel. At his request, there will be no services. Celebrations of his Life will be held at dates to be announced later. One will be on Anna Maria Island, FL in mid-November and the other on Nobska Beach in Woods Hole, MA at a date TBA. His ashes will be scattered to the Seven Seas and Four Winds. To remember him, give a flower to a loved one or friend; call that relative, friend, or classmate you haven't spoken to in way too long; or make a donation in his name to your favorite church, charity, service or veterans organization. He loved the sea and sailing with his father, mother, and sisters into his twenties. Though officially born on July 5th, he was thrilled that the whole nation helped him celebrate his birthday on the Fourth!!
Long live Pieter's favorite sayings: "Life's A Trip - Take One" and especially "GO RAYS."

To all Pieter's friends and family, he was a fine nephew and much loved by all. Sorry I didn't see more of him in the last years, but I read really good comments here, and will learn more of his later life from his brother, Ben.

Pieter has been one of my best friends since we were 15 and were the new kids in school. I always enjoyed his jokes and laughter and positive attitude. He is greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Pieter a brother a friend. He always had time to take my calls even if he was busy helping book wonderful travel adventures. I had a great vision that Papa (Jan Hahn) came in a sailing ship to collect Pieter at the shore and they sailed away to the horizon. I take comfort in knowing he is OK on the other side. Always friendly and upbeat. Even if something wasn't quite right he didn't complain he just soldiered on with a good happy attitude. He will be missed. My condolences to the Mixter family, Fantasy Travel, Tineke Hahn, and Alison Robb and her son and family for this loss of a real mensch. A man we could all be proud to say we had known and loved. With love.

Pieter will be dearly missed by so many people. He made my dream vacation to Ireland a wonderful enriching reality. He was recommended to me by his good friend and client Bob, who I will be eternally grateful to for steering towards the "Fantasy Travel" office. The time and caring Pieter gave to each and every client will be hard to match. Thank you Pieter, till we meet again in our travels.

Pieter entered our lives much later than some others, but the ride with him was fantastic while we were on board. His friendship, humor and professional dedication will be missed by many. Our sincere sympathy is with his extended family and co-workers who shared his life so much longer.

This wonderful person Pieter Hahn has been unfairly taken from us at a young age of 60. When someone mentions Fantasy Travel the next words spoken would.....ALWAYS BE.....Pieter Hahn.He was (and always will be) a friend, co worker/ office manager but to me he was more than that,in my heart he was my mentor. From day one, when I first came and sat in your office, you believed in me, you valued me and you gave me the chance to pursue a life long dream of being a travel agent. I cherish this opportunity you have given me. I'm forever thankful for the great knowledge and wisdom you shared with me.This was the kind of person Pieter Hahn was. This is surely a case of.....life isn't fair......I'll truly miss you my friend, but I'll never forget you...........Go Rays

Pieter, you will be missed so dearly. You have been a great friend to me for over 10yrs. I remember walking into your office the first time when I came to Southwest Florida, and you welcomed me with open arms, along with the rest of the staff and your brother Ben. Thank you for the wonderful vacations that you planned for me, and thank you for your kindness. May you rest in peace and be in the good hands of our great Lord Jesus.

When I think of Pieter it makes me smile...his constant wit and caring for people. And he truly had magical powers when it came to planning your trips.... I remember he planned a family cruise for us and he called to tell us that the only accommodation that he could get was the owners suite....you will truly be missed by all... To the Mixter family, you are in our thoughts and prayers
