Raymond Damrow Obituary

Raymond H. Damrow, 87, from Bradenton, FL, formerly from Norridge, IL, passed away on May 15, 2012. He was born May 18, 1924, in Chicago, to Mary (Reich) and Hugo Damrow. Ray was a very proud man. Proud of serving his Country in the Navy during WWII on the USS Enterprise (CV-6), the most decorated ship of WWII, and most proud of his daughters, Cynthia Sander (Jeff), Susan Piper (Fred), Deborah McCutcheon, and Carolyn Damrow (Chuck Weissmueller). Ray is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lorraine Damrow (Preusser), his four daughters, step-son Russell Olsen, his first wife and mother of his daughters, Phyllis Jacobs, and his sister Ethel Haag. He has six grandchildren: Ronald and Jill Piper, Jennifer Signorella, Nicholas Marzullo, Elizabeth Fears and Eric McCutcheon; and four great-grandchildren, Elle Piper, Lucas and Adalie Fears, and Ava Signorella. Ray is also survived by his life-long buddy, Charlie Frey. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Eleanor Grant and Evelyn Hartge, and step-daughters Deborah Olsen Law and Diane Olsen Wallace. Ray retired from Allstate Insurance in 1984. Prior to Allstate, he was a gifted auto body repairman and all-around mechanic--there was nothing he couldn't repair. He had a great sense of humor, and he kept that to the end. Ray's final resting place is the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Arrangements by Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, Roselle. 630-529-5751 or www.countrysidefuneralhomes.com
