Palmetto, Florida - Robert M. Wilson III, age 78, passed away May 11, 2025, in Palmetto, Florida. He was born in Newark, New Jersey to Robert M Wilson Jr and Carla Meriam Wilson. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Carla Wilson and his sister Jean Wilson Knoch. Robert met the love of his life Patricia O'Brien, and they were married in 1972 in Summit, NJ. They lived in Cedar Grove, NJ and later moved to Palmetto, FL. Robert worked for both NJ Bell and AT&T for 25 years. He began his career in the central office and eventually became a manager overseeing the Telecommunication needs of many Fortune 500 companies in Northen NJ. After leaving AT&T, he became the Head of Communications at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York for 8 years, before retiring in 2000. Robert was also the owner of The Sport Shop in Cedar Grove and Real Estate Investor in both NJ and Florida. He led an active life outside work where he was member of the Cedar Grove Jaycees, the Bradenton Yacht Club, the Palmetto Charter Review Committee, NJ Property Owners Association, a board member and President of the Riviera Dune Homeowners Association, and Captain of the Cear Grove Rescue Squad. Robert leaves his cherished memories to his loving wife Patricia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Tidewater Hospice Foundation or Manatee Community Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Skway Memorial Funeral Home in Palmetto, FL where online condolences and words of comfort may be placed or viewed at www.skywaymemorial.com.
