Ross Young Obituary

Ross A. Young, 91, of Bradenton, passed away March 21, 2016, with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his devoted wife, of 30 years, Alice J. Young; his daughter, Cindy (Joe) Ward, stepsons, Gary (Marrianne) Hayden, and Mike Hayden, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born February 7, 1925, in Jackson, MI, he was a son of the late Fredrick H. Young and Josephine I. Young (Bowen). He was also preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Stahl; brothers, Fredrick Jr., Amos and Ansel Young; and his son, Bill S. Young Sr. He was active with the Moose Lodge, 40/8, Eagles Lodge and the American Legion. He retired from the state of Michigan, Federal Surplus in 1984, where he worked for 31 years. He was a hard worker and grew up running the family farm in Jackson, MI. He enjoyed his family and friends, traveling, fishing, playing pool, bowling, golfing, canoeing, camping, old cars, puzzles and reading. He loved playing with his grandchildren, especially taking them on boat rides. He was very proud of the beautiful A-frame cabin he built. He could fix anything, and if he couldn't he would make it work somehow. We will always remember his yearly back flip off the train bridge at the Muskegon River, up until he was 86! He was well loved and will surely be missed. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at Manasota Memorial Park at 11 am on Friday, April 1, 2016. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Tidewell Hospice House, in Bradenton. Condolences may be made to the family at ManasotaMemorial.com.
