Shelby Becker Obituary

Shelby Jean Collier Becker, died peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2007, with her children, brother, sisters and husband at her bedside. Born March 15, 1940 in Bedford Virginia, Shelby was the daughter of the late Robert D. Collier and Elva Abbott Collier Ayers. She has made her home in Bradenton, Florida for the past 35 years where she reared six wonderful children. Shelby's deep faith was an inspiration to all. She handled multiple health issues with grace and dignity. Most importantly, Shelby provided a loving environment in which her children could develop into responsible and productive adults. In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by a husband, Larry Lee Nelson; son, Gregory Lee Nelson; brother, Robert T. Collier and sister, Joyce C. Layne. She is survived by husband, Robert G. Becker; son, Michael Glenn Nelson, Bradenton, Fla; four daughter, Janet N. Jones and husband Danny, Hendersonville, N.C.; Cheryl N. Richeson and husband Tommy, Mechanicsville, Va; Suzanne Nelson and partner Renee Jekonski, Bradenton, Fla and Melissa N. Bradow and husband Kyle, Bradenton, Fla. and a brother Thomas D. Collier and wife Donna, Big Island, Va.; two sisters Violet C. Cassidy and husband Flay, Moneta, Va. and MaryLou C. Robertson and husband Davy, Charlotte, N.C. Shelby is also survived by seven grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Nicholas Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Zachary Jones, Matthew Richeson, Dylan Richeson, Chyenne Bradow and Sierra Bradow. Also an Aunt, Hazel Phillips of Lynchburg, Va. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 5:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1106 63rd Avenue East, Bradenton, Florida. A family Memorial Service will be held on June 24, at the family homeplace, 1052 Cody Street, Big Island, Va. Manasota Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
