Thomas James Moeddel

Tom Moeddel, 68, of Parrish, FL, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2016. Tom was the beloved husband of Marilyn Moeddel (nee Rickenbaugh) for over 45 years and loving father of Maura Moeddel, Amy Mellor, Molly Michaud, and Abby Spears. Tom was adored as "PoPo" by his grandchildren, Payton Mellor, Carter Michaud, Reagan Spears, and Weston Michaud. Tom was a dear brother to Jerome Moeddel, Kathleen Burger, and the late Maureen Norris and Robert Moeddel. Tom was born in St. Bernard, OH where he graduated from Roger Bacon ('66), University of Cincinnati (BBA, '71) and Xavier University (MBA, '76). Tom enlisted in the Army and was a 1st Lieutenant during the Vietnam War ('71-'73), and stationed at Camp Edwards in Korea. He was a successful businessman and worked with Lenk Company, Drackett, and Bristol-Myers Squibb, retiring as a Vice President of Operations in 1993. Tom enjoyed many years with his family relocating from Cincinnati, OH to Weston, CT, Titusville, NJ, and Union, KY, before moving to Florida in 2004. Tom loved life and loved his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Tom passed away after a short battle with cancer. We rejoice in knowing we will be reunited again one day. Services with military honors will be held Monday, November 21 at 3 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, with a gathering to follow at 5 pm in Ellenton for all family and friends (contact Abby at 813-401-8621 for location); Remembrances may be sent to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, www.jimmyv.org.
