Murphy, North Carolina - Valerie Ann Maihack Hopkins, 72, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024.
She was born in Evanston, IL on September 10, 1951 to Lester and Elsie Maihack. Valerie graduated Glenbrook South High School in 1969, married fellow classmate Mark Hopkins in 1973, and raised their children, Paul and Tina. She had many occupations, including business owner of The Bradenton Flower Shop. Valerie loved traveling, RVing and, most of all, helping to raise her beloved grandchildren.
Valerie is survived by her loving husband, Mark Hopkins of Murphy, NC (Bradenton, FL); son Paul (Rhonda) Hopkins of Bradenton, FL; daughter Tina (Kyle) Hopkins Moore of Parrish, FL; grandchildren, Kaleb, Abigail, Nicholas, Christian, Kai, Emberlee; brother Dennis Maihack (Diane) of Lindenhurst, IL; sister Sandy Wrenn (Carl) of Dallas, GA, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Elsie Maihack of Northbrook, IL, her brother, Donald (Sally) Maihack and nephews Donald, Brian and David Maihack.
A Celebration of this beautiful person's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of North Carolina.
