Virginia Smith Dreher, lovingly known as Ginny to many, passed away on Sun., July 16, 2023, at the age of 97, surrounded by her family in Sarasota, FL. Ginny was a former resident of Wisconsin. Ginny was a mother to two children; Janyce (James) Miller, Julie (John) Lump; three step-sons; R. Kim Dreher (Janet), the late Arthur Clark, Jr., Robert "Bobby" Clark; and one step-daughter, Susan Schuchat (Brad). She also leaves behind an incredible legacy of 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her beloved late husbands; Art Clark and Robert Dreher. Born on March 26, 1926, in Detroit, MI, Ginny pursued her education at Michigan State University. She worked as a stewardess with American Airlines, showcasing her passion for travel and service. Ginny later shared her time between Door County, WI, and Longboat Key, FL, before eventually settling in Sarasota on a full-time basis. Ginny was a cherished member of the Sarasota Bay Club, where she resided. She found joy in attending the tai chi-qigong combo class almost every morning, emphasizing her commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle. Her spiritual home was Christ Church of Longboat Key where she enjoyed singing in choir. Ginny was involved with the Florida Gulf Coast Kiwis, a local chapter of The Kiwi Club International. This organization, established in 1983, comprises former and current American Airlines stewardesses and flight attendants. Ginny's love for her family was paramount. She cherished her role as a matriarch in her family. In honor of Ginny's memory, her family kindly requests that donations be made to Christ Church of Longboat Key in lieu of flowers. Ginny's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered. A Celebration of Ginny's Life will be at 10 AM, Fri., July 21, 2023, at Christ Church of Longboat Key, 6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key, FL where she was a founding active member.
