To the Jamison family, my sincere sympathy in your loss. I have memories of Mr Jamison during all my years growing up and playing baseball in Gulfport. He was a fixture in the dugout or in the stands for Jay, Scott, and Wesley. He was truly a kind and gentle man.

Poppy- Words can not come close to expressing how I and I am sure others feel about you leaving us. I miss you so much and expect you to walk through the door any time. I will miss you. You were a remarkable man and an amazing grandfather to me and great-grandfather to my kids. Samantha may always root for those ugly Vols but in her heart of hearts, she's a Gator!
Love you forever!

to a great man
poppy was a loving, caring, honest, and straight to the point type of person. He would tell you how he felt whether you liked it or not. He could put a smile on anyones face. He would do anything for you, all you had to do was ask. When we went out to eat, he would always flirt with the waitresses. And they were a heck of a lot younger. It was always fun to be around him. He will always have a place in my heart.

Poppy was one of the best men I have ever known and will ever know. He taught me so much about how to be the best person I could be and how to live my life with integrity and honor. I will always cherish the times when we would sit for hours talking about sports and politics; he always had me laughing.
Thanks, poppy, for giving me 19 years of wonderful memories with you. Love you Pops.

Pops,

One of my favorite memories growing up was was how every time Scotty or I would be sick and would have to stay home from school, we got to spend the day with you. I remember you would make us lunch and get us whatever we wanted to drink, but I think my favorite part about the day was how we would watch countless episodes of Matlock and Murder She Wrote. Even though we were sick, I enjoyed the day so much and cherish the memories even more. You are truly a man I will never forget and you have left us all a legacy to strive for. I love you more than you will ever know and I can't wait to see you again soon. You are missed beyond measure. Thank you for being the man you were and still are in my heart. I love you Pops. Go Gators!

We will miss our morning and evening visits as he was walking Lady. Walter was a very nice neighbor and always nice to the kids. I loved seeing Lady riding in the back window of car as they drove out of the neighborhood. We will miss Walter pray for his peace in heaven.

Mr. Jamison was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known in my life. As a young person, I had the privelige to work for him and spend time with him. I didn't realize until later in life how much he helped to teach me more about things like, patience, trust, honesty, etc. I never forgot that time. I know he touched many people in such a positive way, that they will never forget. This world has truely lost a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with this wonderful family.

Poppy was a man amongst men. There has never and will never be another person like him, ever. War hero, Florida Gator, and as great a grandfather anyone could ever ask for. I hope I can be half the man he was.

Poppy Jamison was a kind and gentle soul, who was dearly loved by his family and friends! He was a man of few words but had amazing wisdom. He was devoted to his family, the Florida Gators and his adorable dog, Lady ! Dad, you were loved by many and respected by all! Your legacy will live on and you will live in our hearts forever. Thanks for the beautiful memories!

I think the year was 1967. Our Lions were losing, and had run through our pitching staff.

"Coach" Jamison hollered in the dugout... "WHO CAN PITCH". I had always dreamed of standing on the mound, staring down the bigger kids and smoking my 49 1/2 mph fastball past them. I shot up raising my hand with assurances that I could do the job.

He smiled that crooked grin of his and sent me to the mound with a nod.

I think in all my life.. I have never had anyone (excluding family) believe in me to that extent...

but it wasn't just me. Walt Jamison made every boy he ever coached feel the same as I did that night.

And as grew older, that became far more important

than winning every game.

May the Jamison family cherish the memories

I always enjoyed the road trips down to Florida for the LSU games. One of the best things about the trip was Mr K's constant enthusiasm for life, and he lived it to the fullest! I also didn't mind his skillful handling of my biggest Tiger Fan buddy in the trash talk building up to game day! You won most of those, DAD! Thanks for making life fun!

My dad modeled total devotion to his family and showed what self-sacrifice really means. He never talked about himself or his accomplishments, and encouraged his children to go out into the world. I will always remember him coaching me from when I was 6 until 18 years old, and only now do I realize the sacrifices he made.
