John Colin English, Jr., 94 of Tallahassee, passed away on March 22, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Ft. Myers, Florida on January 28, 1932, to John Colin, Sr. and Ruth McWilliams English. He moved with his parents to Tallahassee when he was four years old. Colin took much pride in being the son of one of the early Florida families.

Colin graduated from Leon High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in business from Florida State University; he was a member of Sigma Chi and the senior class president for the class of 1954. He continued his education, taking agriculture courses while at the University of Florida. He continued his education while taking business courses at Indiana University.

Colin was a man of many and varied talents. He loved spending time outdoors, but his main love of his life was his family.

Colin is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Langford English; his children Cynthia Freeman (Edmond), Susan Jackson (Van), Sharon Cook (Steve), and John Colin English, III; Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Southern Scholarship Foundation 322 Stadium Drive Tallahassee, Florida 32304, Faith Presbyterian Church 2200 N. Meridian Road Tallahassee, Florida 32303 or a charity of your choice.
