Ann Titus Obituary

TURTLE CREEK - Ann C. Titus, 82, of Forest Hills, unexpectedly passed away at home on Saturday (May 22, 2021).
She was born in Bradford, on May 2, 1939, daughter of the late William and Genevieve Hinchey Titus.
On July 20, 1989, she became the adoptive mother of Amber R. Shea in New Jersey and Christopher D. Titus of Cranberry Township.
Ann valued education and was a devout Catholic. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Mercyhurst College and her master's degree from Duquesne University. Ann dedicated 35 years of her life teaching, beginning in the Bradford Area School System. Following that, she taught at Edgewood Elementary School, Woodland Hills Dickinson School, and St. Colman School.
Ann made an impact on many of her students, guiding them with firmness yet gentleness that was unique to her nature. After her retirement, she continued to nurture her grandchildren and many of the children in her neighborhood until her death. Children were attracted to her patience and warmth and glided along in her good humor.
When Ann was not at work, she enjoyed watching and cheering for Pittsburgh sports teams. Ann loved her family dearly and was a wonderful mother and sibling, and a patient listener.
She is survived by her two children, Amber R. Shea and Christopher D. (Andra) Titus; three grandchildren, Taylor Bloom, Raven Titus, and Sofia Titus; two siblings, Paul (Bonnie) Titus and Margaret Titus.
She was proceeded in death by her parents William and Genevieve Hinchey Titus; her brothers John (Grace) Titus and Joseph (Theresa) Titus.
Friends and relatives welcome Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James St., Turtle Creek 412-823-9350.

I remember Miss Titus as a kind, wonderful teacher with a great sense of humor. She was a tremendous asset to teaching.

It was with great sadness I heard about Ann’s passing. As her colleague and friend I have warm memories of her humanism, dedication to children and her great sense of humor. She was the ultimate Educator and Person.
Her mark is on many children she taught and counseled, the colleagues she embraced as friends, and the many she graced with her presence and gifts. Ann will be missed by so many, but her influence will live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her mission on earth is done now. Time to rest in the arms of her Savior.. R.I.P.
