Carla, Richard and David, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's death. I remember visits to your house as a kid. All of the Hallinen gang from Taft Road in St Marys made our Christmas visits to both your house and Ann and Carmen DiNardo's in J'burg. Of course, you boys were enough older that you may or may not have been home. Carla, you were always there...helping Helen get treats out for us. No one ever went hungry visiting your house. Your Dad was a kind man who was well respected. He was always such a gentleman; thoughtful and respectful in word and deed. May it give you peace and comfort to know legions of angels have taken him to heaven to enjoy eaternal happiness in God's company.

Carl was a dedicated father and grandfather, a dedicated union man and an exemplary citizen! Happy that I was able to know him and be part of the same family by marriage.

Remembering my father-in-law Carl with much love. He was a very loving father and grandfather who raised his children thoughtfully, according to his principles of protecting the rights of workers, anti-racism and opposition to prejudice of any type. He taught them by his example to be courageous and have minds of their own. Also, he was quite a story-teller! I still remember some of his stories! I wish all of our family love, comfort and peace.

My deepest sympathies to Carl's family. Carl was a loyal customer and good friend to at the Pharmacy for a long long time. I always encouraged Carl to tell me about his WWII stories. They are still vivid in my memory. He served his country honorably as a patriot. My father served in the same battles as Carl. Carl was always there for the community as well...a good citizen. He was a good parent as well, always on top of his family's doings. And lastly he was a great friend to me and many others. I will miss him, but that will be temporary as I know I will see him again on the other side. That is a great hope!

Uncle Carl was a kind, considerate, generous soul who, with his lovely Helen, always made us so welcome in his home. No trip to the 'burg was complete without a stop at his home and no matter how much we insisted no food was necessary, a full spread always materialized. My most special memories of him were the tours he arranged through the mill and of course, any stories and memories he shared. I hope his children are comforted by the knowledge that they were so well loved by such special parents.

It is difficult to express the love felt for Uncle Carl .. he and Aunt Helen were always the most gracious host.. I lived to sit with him and hear his stories... always backed up with pictures or some evidence of the experience he was sharing with us. He will be truly missed. Peace, love, and prayers to my dear extended family!
