Charles Paar Obituary

Charles Paar
MOUNT JEWETT - Charles Russell "Chuck" Paar, 69, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 30, 2025.
Chuck was born, the last of four children, to Frank J. Paar and Thyra B. Anderson Paar on Sept. 15, 1955. Chuck attended Mount Jewett and Kane schools, graduating with the class of 1973. While in school he participated in music, sports and stage theater. Immediately following graduation, Chuck went to work for his dad's trucking company. A few years later he struck out on his own. On May 17, 1980, while sitting in a truck stop he struck up a conversation with a trucker from Rapid City, S.D. While they didn't know each other, they both worked for the same company. The next day, May 18, Chuck and Ona Sheffer were stranded in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They sat there until Tuesday because of piling ash and dust from Mount Saint Helens, which had erupted that morning. As they say, "the rest is history."
Chuck and Ona were married Oct. 31, 1981, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Mount Jewett. They trucked team together until 2004 when Ona had to get off the road. Trucking helped them to see all 50 states and most of Canada … even Hawaii, as part of an award from United Van Lines was an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii.
In 2007 Chuck and Ona got their authority doing business as Sandman Services.
Chuck is survived by his wife; a brother, Dick (Pat) Paar of Mount Jewett; a sister, Carol (Vern) Lundgren of Sigel; his son, E. Jason Paar; and two stepdaughters, ,Maryann Sourby and Peggy Langley; and three men who were as close as brothers, Tom Geer, Tom Shine and Brett Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kory.
The best decision Chuck ever made was in May 1983 when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This opened the door to get ministry credentials from International Word Fellowship in Chouteau, Okla. That led to several short-term ministry trips to Asia and Africa. Chuck was a member of First Church of God in Eldred, where he would fill in for his pastor and do special music.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. April 5, 2025, at the Church of God in Eldred.
P.S. Chuck wrote his own obituary!

It's hard to lose a good friend. I met Chuck back in the 70s, working for the same company. We were hauling meat from the Midwest to the East Coast. We had a blast. Thanks for the good times Chuck you will be missed my friend.
