Irene Onuffer Obituary

Irene E. Onuffer, 97, of 1423 South Ave., passed away unexpectedly Saturday (Aug. 30, 2025) at her residence.
Born Jan. 5, 1928, in Lewis Run, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Teresa Nusbaum Ross.
On July 23, 1949, in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Lewis Run, she married Andrew S. Onuffer, who preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1983.
She was a lifetime member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church and most recently a member of St. Bernard Church.
Surviving are two sons, Dale (Darla) Onuffer in Ecuador and Robert (Miriam Thomas) Onuffer of Erie; two daughters, Mary MacKenzie of Bradford and Carol (Cary) Frigo of Bradford; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Easton and Bryan Williams; two great-great-grandchildren, Alivia and Marlee Sevrey; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Sankner and Margaret Pantuso; and two brothers, James Ross and Edward Ross Sr.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 4, 2025) at St. Bernard Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow with the Rev. Jim Gutting as celebrant. Mausoleum entombment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
