James Gotshall Obituary

PORT ALLEGANY - James F. Gotshall, 91, of Port Allegany passed away Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2025) at UPMC Williamsport.
He was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Buffalo, N.Y. On Feb. 25, 1967, in Smethport, he married Kathryn M. Earle Olmstead, who survives.
A 1951 graduate of Port Allegany High School, he was employed by Ball-Foster Glass Container Co. in Port Allegany, retiring in 1999. Jim was a member of First Church of God in Eldred and served as an officer of Glass, Molders & Plastics International Union Local 54 for 33 years. He loved farming and raising appaloosa horses and Hereford cattle. Jim enjoyed pencil coloring, dot to dot, word search, Louis L'Amour books and watching Westerns on TV.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Kathryn, are four children, Joy C. (Kim) Fortner of Port Allegany, Jill R. (Thomas) Jordan of Smethport, James F. (Monica) Gotshall Jr. of Sevierville, Tenn., and Timothy A. (Melinda) Gotshall of Eldred; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred B. Falk and Eva Bowers Falk; and a brother, William F. Gotshall.
A gathering to celebrate Jim's life will be held on a later date. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
