Joanne Vecellio

Joanne M. Vecellio, 90, formerly of Rutherford Run, passed away Friday (Sept. 20, 2024) at Bradford Manor.
She was born July 16, 1934, in Bradford, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose Basile Magnella.
She was a 1952 graduate of the former St. Bernard School.
On Feb. 5, 1955, in St. Bernard Catholic Church, she married Leo L. Vecellio, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2017.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where she also sang in the choir. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club and Bradford Ecumenical Home Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, playing bridge and cooking and baking in her spare time.
Right out of high school, Joanne was employed at the Zippo Manufacturing Co. as George Blaisdell's secretary. After leaving Zippo she went on to work at the former FBC before returning to Zippo. She then went on to work for Bradford Hospital in medical records until her retirement.
She is survived by six children, John (Lisa) Vecellio of Cambridge Springs, David (Patty) Vecellio of Bradford, Rosemarie (Matt) Moran of Bradford, Teresa (Gary) Shembeda of Lewis Run, James (Mary Beth) Vecellio of Cyclone and Julie (Gary) Stuckey of Lewis Run; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday (Sept. 24, 2024) at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian burial to immediately follow with the Rev. Edward Walk, senior associate pastor, as celebrant.
Burial and committal services will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
