Joyce Bova Obituary

DUKE CENTER - Joyce L. Bova, 83, of Oil Valley Road, passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 2, 2019) in the Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 26, 1935 in Clearfield, she was a daughter of Joseph and Alta Singer Frantz. On May 26, 1956, in the First Baptist Church of Bradford, she married Ronald W. Bova, who preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2006.
Mrs. Bova had attended Bradford schools and had resided in Bradford and Duke Center prior to moving to Florida in 2007. Then in 2017 she moved back to Duke Center to be closer to her daughters.
She had been employed by ACME Electric in Allegany, N.Y., for nine years. She then, along with her husband, owned and operated the White Horse Inn in Duke Center until 1998.
Mrs. Bova was a member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church and a past member of the Otto Township Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary, as well as being a former Girl Scout Troop leader in Duke Center.
Joyce was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team and enjoyed watching the Judge Judy television program. She also greatly enjoyed attending Wednesday lunches with the girls, as well as working with ceramics, crocheting and travelling, and was also an avid reader. She loved her family and was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, many of whom she shared a close relationship with.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Covert of Duke Center; and her children Brandi, Stacey, Thomas and Bruce; and Rhonda (Sid) Beckwith of Duke Center, and their children Ashley, Jessica and Ashtin; as well as 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen (Mary) Frantz of Hudson, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Byron "Bud" Wood of Rio Rico, Ariz.; two sisters, Forda Marcial of Rola, N.D., and Phyllis Minnicia of Floral City, Fla.; and a very special niece, Diane (Steve) Henderson of Hazel Huurst.
In addition to her husband of fifty years, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gayle Wood and Rayma Rayburg.
No services will be held at this time, a memorial service celebrating Joyce's life will be held in the spring at a date and time that will be announced in a future edition.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions to be made to the Otto Township Fire Department and Ambulance Fund, the McKean County SPCA or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
