Leona Dalton Obituary
Born Aug. 28, 1929, in Kane, she is the daughter of the late William and Marie Schmader O'Donnell. On Sept. 5, 1949, in Kane, she married Clair "Cano" Dalton, who preceded her in death in 2006.
Onie worked as a cook at the Kane Middle School cafeteria for over 20 years. Prior to that, while she was raising her children, she cleaned several area houses. She was a graduate of the Kane High Class of 1948 and a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and the Kane Senior Center. Onie was quite talented when it came to making her beautiful cards and they brought joy to everyone who received them.
She is survived by one son, Steven (Sue Freer) Dalton of Smethport; two daughters, Sharon (Ron) Morse and Sandy (Dennis) Johnson, both of Kane; a son-in-law Roger Streit of Kane; a sister-in-law, Nancy O'Donnell of Bradford; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Taylor, Andy Dalton, Jeff Dalton, Tammy Walker, Kim Streit, Scott Streit, Shawn Morse, Amy Smith, Dan Morse, Eric Johnson and Ryan Johnson; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 stepgreat-great-grandchildren, numerous special nieces and nephews and a very good friend, Patty Gelatko.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Streit; four sisters, Frances Hogan, Theresa Campbell, Rita Loose and Mary Agnes Dana; four brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Raymond and William O'Donnell and a daughter-in-law, Nenita Dalton.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home on Friday (Aug. 25) from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the St. Callistus Catholic Church gathering space on Saturday (Aug. 26) from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Entombment will take place in the mausoleum at St. Callistus Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to UPMC Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, Shriner's Hospital, Erie, PA or St Callistus Catholic Church, Kane, PA or to the charity of the donor's choice.

My sincerest condolences to the Dalton family. Onie was our neighborhood Mom (Clay Street). She was so kind and a friend to all. I'll always remember spending afternoons on the Dalton's front Porch (after Playground at Clay Street School had closed for the day) spinning records and just hanging out with Onie there to keep everything under control. I also remember Steve going off to join the Navy and Vickie, Sherry, and Sandy singing in perfect harmony as "The Dal-Tones". Those of us who remember those "golden olden days" of the 60's will always remember Onie Dalton and how good she was to all of us. Rest In Peace, Onie!
