Lindabeth Downey Obituary

MAYVILLE, N.Y. - Lindabeth Ann Finlan Downey of Sherman, devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday (Sept. 6, 2022) at her home in Clymer, surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 5, 1942, the eleventh child of Guy and Vilo Patterson Finlan of Bradford, Pa. She graduated from Bradford Area High School, and Jamestown Community College. In 1961, she married the love of her life, Arden Downey in Olean, N.Y.
She was employed by the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services, the Department of Health, Mayville Central School, and Chautauqua Lake Central School.
Linda and her husband enjoyed many trips to Ireland, with both receiving their Irish citizenship in 2005. They traveled extensively throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Linda and her husband made Myrtle Beach their winter home.
Linda was a member of the Edward's Chapel UMC and the NYS Genealogical Society. Linda enjoyed genealogy and researched both her and her husband's family's history. She enjoyed painting, golfing and spending time with her husband, and their time in Cape Cod. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arden in 2020; her parents; a son, Brent in 1969 and a grandson; Andrew in 1985. In addition, she was predeceased by five sisters; Bai Adamson, Cecelia Pruch, Wynona Finlan, Darlene Kleiderlein, Hazel Drummond, and Autumn Finlan, and three brothers; Guy Finlan III, David Finlan and Kenneth Finlan.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynne (Andrew) Nickerson of Dewittville, Ann (Daniel) Damcott of Clymer, and Sala Downey of Girard; eight grandchildren, Lindsay (James), Michelle (Tracy), Ronnie (Jamie), Seth (Nikki), Samie (Jordan), Maggie, Joseph and Jamie; and six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Liam, Ainsleigh, Avalynn, Ezra and Madeline. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Reninger of Jacksonville.
All services will be private. Burial will be in the Sherman cemetery. Memorials may be made to Edward's Chapel UMC, Clymer, the Audubon Society of Jamestown and Chautauqua County Hospice, Lakewood

DearFamily,
I was saddened to hear of Linda’s passing, yet I know she is with her love , Arden.
I so enjoyed working with Linda at Mayvillle Central. I can still hear that wonderful laugh; And, see that great smile.
