Martin Henneman Obituary

Martin K. "Marty" Henneman, 54, of Bradford, passed away Sunday (June 19, 2022).
Born July 21, 1967, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Robert W. Henneman and Mary Lou Grube Henneman, who survives him in Wellsboro.
Marty was a 1985 graduate of Wellsboro High School. He later graduated from Mansfield University with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
On July 26, 1985, he enlisted in the United States Army and worked as a Military Policeman overseas in Germany and then was honorably discharged on July 17, 1987. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Army Medal Achievement, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Expert Marksmanship Badge in rifles, grenades, and handguns.
In October of 1992, he enlisted at the State Police Academy and graduated in 1993 with the 100th Class from the Academy. He was first assigned on Feb. 24, 1993, to Troop C, Mount Jewett Station with the Patrol Unit. On April 15, 2000, he was assigned to the Punxsutawney Station to the Fire Marshal Unit. On March 29, 2003, he was promoted to Corporal and assigned to Kane Station, as the Patrol Unit Supervisor and Dec. 3, 2005, he was assigned as the Crime Unit Supervisor at Kane. In September of 2014 he was promoted to Sergeant and reassigned to Troop H, in Chambersburg as the Patrol Section Supervisor. On Jan. 17, 2015, he was assigned to the Punxsutawney Headquarters as the Staff Services Section Supervisor. His final assignment came on April 11, 2015, when he was assigned to Kane as the Station Commander. Marty retired on May 6, 2016.
On Dec. 30, 2011, he married Julie Bentz Henneman.
Martin was a devoted husband and father, participating in his children's many school sports, and extracurricular activities. He loved spending time with family, friends and his many Weimaraners.
Martin was an active supporter of his community. He was Chief Deputy Coroner of McKean County; an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford teaching criminal justice; former president and member of the Seneca Law Enforcement Association (SLEA); owner and operator of IOA Consulting, LLC which provided training for self-protection and private investigative services; former member of the Rotary Club of Bradford and former member of the Bradford High Choral Boosters.
Martin loved planning and taking trips on this motorcycle, the most significant of those trips being to Alaska. He was also a ham radio operator and enjoyed many other interests and hobbies including hunting, fishing, and supporting the annual youth pheasant hunt with the Kane Fish and Game Club.
Surviving is his wife Julie Henneman, three daughters, Gretchen Henneman, Alexandra Asp, and Sophia Asp, all of Bradford: two brothers, John (Debbie) Henneman of Cable, Ohio, and Steven (Pattie) Henneman of Wellsboro, and several nieces, and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, from 3 - 5 and 7 -9 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main Street in Bradford.
Private funeral services for family members will be held with Chaplain (MAJ) Brett Johnson, followed by committal services with Full Honors in Welch Settlement Cemetery in Wellsboro.
If desired, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to your local Volunteer Fire Department who Marty has supported his entire career.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
