Richard Michalski Obituary

McCONNELLSBURG - Richard Frank Michalski, 53, of Chambersburg, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday (Dec. 15, 2013) after suffering a heart attack.
He was born on Sept. 9, 1960, in Bradford. He was the son of the late Frank and Mildred Perry Michalski.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Susan Harrison Michalski; his sisters, Jean Maas of Cambridge Springs and Shirley (Dave) Gotto of Warren; and his stepmother, Virginia Michalski of Erie. He will also be missed by his nieces, Kerryn and Lori Maas and Michelle Gotto; his nephew, Scott Gotto; and their families.
Rich served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force as a weather officer. Meteorology became a lifetime hobby. He also loved gardening and animals, especially his three cats. Prior to his military service, he graduated from Penn State University in 1982 with a degree in meteorology. Rich spent his entire working career in information technology, first as a contract worker at Letterkenny and then at T.B. Woods Inc., and for the past six years at Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, where he was an information technology support analyst.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Dec. 21 in the chapel of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mark Medina officiating. A reception followed in the church's Family Life Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Care & Hospice or the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.
The Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Sue,
I was shocked to learn of Rich's death; just two weeks after Steve's.
Steve and Rich attended BAHS together, then later worked together at Letterkenney. Steve had also had an avid interest in weather and occasionally commented about Rich as he was looking at weather pattern maps.
I still remember you stopping by our house in Fayetteville and Andrew commenting that you had a "Dodge Cara-car".
We wish you peace in this time of great sorrow.

in the power of Christ, I'll stand. Wayne MacDonald, now living in San Antonio, TX, but from 1959 until 2003, we lived besides the Michalskis. May God bless you at this time.

Susan, I am the oldest one of the MacDonald family that lived next door to your husband,s Mom and Dad when he was born. Being that I was 20 years old when he was born, I never knew him as well as his sisters. But we are very sorry for his sudden departure, but know he is in a better place that we all hope for at the end of our life. Here are a few words that I have shared with many others at this time. We are a moment , you are forever and secondly, till ,He returns or calls me home, here in the power He returns or calls me home
