Richard Pearce Obituary

OSKALOOSA, Iowa - Richard Douglas Pearce of Eddyville passed away unexpectedly Jan. 29, 2024.
Doug was born Feb. 23, 1965, in Punxsutawney, Pa., to Harry and Eva Pearce (Garvey). He grew up in Duke Center, Pa., and was a graduate of Otto-Eldred Junior-Senior High School. In his youth, he enjoyed hunting with his family in the woods near their home. He went on to receive a degree in drafting and design from Triangle Tech of Erie.
Doug spent more than 20 years exploring the country while over-the-road trucking. He always remarked that no matter the places he traveled, he always found the Pennsylvania hills to be the most beautiful place in his heart. Doug later settled in Iowa, and enjoyed wood-working, restoring muscle cars, tending to his rose plants and, most of all, riding his Harley-Davidson. Doug was best known for his sense of humor and loving heart.
He is survived by his mother, Eva (Fred) Cramer of Bradford, Pa.; a daughter Rachel (Jeffery) Snell of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; four siblings, Beverly (Dale) Netzel of Killen, Texas, Timothy (Rebecca) of Newport, N.C., and Matthew Todd (Dawn) and Bradley (Kelly), both of Duke Center; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry "Sonny" Pearce.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held at a later date.
